Dorbyl has had great success working with Pride International and Transocean Sedco Forex, and recently completed work on the Omega oilrig as well as the Pride South Seas (formerly the South Seas Driller). Undertaking servicing and general repairs on the Omega, Dorbyl Marine was responsible for modifications and repairs to the winches and well as the replacing of high pressure piping. Responsible for extensive permanent repairs to the semi submersible rig, Pride South Seas, Dorbyl replaced one of the main support braces and undertook the permanent underwater repairs to both hull pontoons. This involved the use of cofferdams - one of which was the largest ever manufactured in South Africa. Weighing over 70 tons, the cofferdam was used to provide a safe working environment at 11.5 m draft. All personnel involved were sent to the SA Navy for special safety training and medical evaluation. |

Dorbyl Marine has enjoyed a lot of support from Seabulk Offshore International and, by providing an ongoing high standard of workmanship, aims to continue to build a sound business relationship with this company that operates on the West Coast of Africa. Dorbyl Marine also offers Seabulk Offshore International three ports of call for drydocking namely Walvis Bay (Namibia), Cape Town and East London. This is just another example of Dorbyl Marine's ability to meet our clients' needs. A number of Seabulk vessels have recently been docked by Dorbyl. These include the Seabulk Falcon II, Seabulk Tucon, Seabulk Swan, Seabulk Dove, Seabulk Puffin and the Seabulk Snipe. The Seabulk Falcon II had general maintenance can extensive steel renewal work done to her, while the Seabulk Snipe underwent steel renewal, servicing of pumps and an air-conditioning system installed. She also had electrical motors overhauled and had her safety and life-saving equipment serviced. In addition to undertaking steel renewal work on the Seabulk Tucon, Dorbyl Marine were also contracted to undertake basic hull and deck maintenance. Her propulsion system and bow thrusters were overhauled. The Seabulk Swan also received general steel renewal and her propulsion system was completely surveyed. Similarly the Seabulk Dove also underwent steel renewal, as well as maintenance to the tailshaft and bow thrusters. The Seabulk Puffin developed a bad oil leak on her way to Cape Town, but was soon on her way again after floating repairs were affected. |
