Marine Cape Town's yard covers 8601 square metres with 7000 square metres of buildings. All work areas have overhead cranage. Three mobile cranes are available of 12, 20, 40 tons capacity.

STEEL FABRICATION SHOP
Shop area 1875 square metres. Cranage 2 x 25 ton. Equipment includes Brake Press, Guillotine, Frame Bending Machine, Rolls and Hydraulic Press. Prefabricated steel sections are made together with repairs and fairing to such items as hatch covers, anchors, watertight doors, ventillation ducting, crane and derrick booms, etc.

PIPE SHOP
Shop area 200 square metres. Cranage 10 ton. Repair or renewal of pipework systems in materials such as steel, stainless steel, copper, yorcalbro, cunifer and PVC. New piping can be hot or cold formed or fabricated. Pipe systems include water, oil, hydraulic and pneumatic.


FITTING SHOP
Shop area 200 square metres. Cranage 10 ton. General fitting shop for all types of marine equipment overhaul and renewal. Engine and general rebuilds and overhauls, whinches, cranes, rudder and tailshafts, etc.


ELECTRICAL SHOP
  • Installation of temporary shore power to vessels
  • Lighting and power points in vessels blacked out areas, welding supply panels and protection equipment
  • Insulation testing and reports on Ship's circuitries (Megger Test)
  • Servicing of Ship's main and emergency switchboards
  • Electrical motor overhauling
  • Troubleshooting of all service and control circuits
  • Refurbishing and maintenance of electrical plants
Manufacturing of automation, alarm and monitoring systems, diesel engine control systems, electrical controls for refrigeration and hydraulic systems. Motor control stations and switchboards.

Quality Management

Quality assurance is recognised as crucial and Cape Town Marine has therefore obtained the SABS accreditation for ISO 9002.

The quality programme installed at Cape Town Marine covers management objectives, organisational structure, Q.A. policies and Q.A. procedures. It provides for the generation of full Q.C. documentation when required by the client.
