A wide range of asbestos-free friction materials is available including products which meet the UIC, British Rail and AAR specifications.

The asbestos free product range also includes direct replacements for cast-iron brake shoes and coaches, wagons and locomotives. The new materials have many advantages over cast-iron blocks. They are lighter, and offer an extended wear life, improved wheel durability, reduced maintenance down time and are quieter and cleaner in operation.

Transnamib Diesel Locomotive

Metpro® composition friction materials was used as a direct replacement of cast - iron brake shoes on TransNamib Diesel locomotives.

Metpro® brake shoes have been instrumental in setting the world speed record of 265 km/h on 1067 mm rail gauge and stopping the 7,5 km long world record train consisting of 800 wagons.
